… Cotton in Manchester NH was the scene for the Bookeaters’ discussion of Eudora Welty’s Losing Battles. It was, by all accounts, an excellent book … based on one thoroughly educated opinion, one partially educated opinion … and two rather sketchily educated ones! (Having been on the sketchier end of the spectrum myself, I’ll stop right here … and simply add that the food at Cotton was excellent, the spring evening very fine, and the company incomparable). Next up? The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
4/13/08 … Some of the Bookeaters (two to be exact) enjoyed a wonderful brunch at The Shaker Table in Canterbury. While not an officially sanctioned Bookeater activity, it is our thought that it definitely should be some time in the not-too-distant future!
3/15/08 … Hey – The Bookeaters enjoyed a trek to an excellent Afghan Restaurant in Cambridge the other night, where we ate and discussed Three Cups of Tea. The Helmand offered great food, good post-movie (“The Band’s Visit”) company, and a very nice Portuguese Red Wine (in honor of the Algarve Cup).
