Deep thoughts, quirky perspectives, interesting ideas for fun and for skillful living in the 21st century.

Tomorrow at 6AM we’ll start the next leg of the Olympic tournament journey. There’s not a lot in the way of soccer news in the interim. The WNT Blog is a good place to track the USWNT’s travels and preparation for tomorrow’s showdown with Canada. An upbeat and determined Canadian squad is looking for a big win … and the Boston Breakers‘ site has links to some of the players’ website and blogs, as follows: Angela Hucles, Lori Chalupny, Heather Mitts, Lindsay Tarpley, Shannon Boxx, Kristine Lilly, Abby Wambach, and Leslie Osborne. If nothing else, it’s fascinating to see how each individual chooses to present/market herself.

In other news, the Phillies lost to the Dodgers on a 9th inning homer by Mia Hamm’s husband. Michael Phelps, as well as the US women’s basketball and softball teams continue to dominate.

Oh yeah, and there are a couple of conventions on the horizon … and John Edwards will be participating in neither of them! (Who’d have thought he’d end up sharing the anti-limelight with the likes of Dick Cheney and – if they could get away with it – George W. Bush?)

McCain SprainMeanwhile, in a development that probably surprises no one, the very brittle Cindy McCain nearly broke after a fan shook her hand too hard. (What’s most puzzling to me about this story is the level of enthusiasm apparently generated by Ms. McCain. Clearly I am missing out on something!)
