Goal.com named the Breakers’ Kelly Smith their Player of the Week for this past week in the newly-minted WPS season -- a nice (and well-deserved) honor.
“I have to admit, as a long-time Kelly Smith fan, I’m almost inclined to put her name in every week. Though she is nearly always good, she was superlative this week for the Boston Breakers” Goal.com chief editor Andrea Canales said. “It’s no surprise that Smith became, last week, the first player to earn goals in both the WUSA and WPS. She has hit the ground running in the new league.”
She is a joy to watch -- and as a long-time Breakers fan, I couldn’t be happier to have her on the pitch for Boston! Here’s Todd Civin’s profile of Kelly -- a part of his “These Are The Boston Breakers” series.
Oh … and last night I had the distinct pleasure of Tweeting Kelly to congratulate her. Amazing world we live in, eh?
